William P. Coley II
Ohio State Senator Bill Coley is currently serving his second full term in the Ohio Senate. The Government Oversight and Reform committee handles a variety of issues from elections law, to gps monitoring of parolees, to closed loop payment systems for medical marijuana. As chairman of this committee, Senator Coley is often responsible for the legislative oversight of the State’s Casino, Racino, Lottery, parimutuel, fantasy sports and charitable gaming operations. Through his work in the field of gaming Senator Coley has been named as the President elect of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) and he is a sought after speaker on the issues of economic development and proper gaming regulation and oversight.
As a legislator, Bill authored the legislation that created Ohio’s Digital Learning Clearing House and the Medical Marijuana Closed Loop Payment System. His legislative efforts have resulted in him receiving the following awards: The Foundation for Governmental Responsibility, Legislator of the Year; the Ohio Council of Behavioral Healthcare Providers, Legislator-of-the-Year; the United Conservatives of Ohio, Watchdog-of-the-Treasury; eTech Ohio Commission, Robert R. Cupp Legislative Award, BioOhio Legislator-of-the-Year; Ohio Educational Service Center Association, Legislative Leadership Award; and Ohio Farm Bureau, Friend of Farming Award.
As an attorney, Senator Coley’s practice concentrates on the representation of business clients in a variety of litigation and transactional matters. Bill has extensive experience in the representation of financial institutions that has included everything from loan documentation to commercial loan work out and litigation.
Senator Coley lives in Butler County with his wife, Carolyn, their cat Tillie and their two Old English Sheepdogs, Wilby and Elwood.
