Section Chief of Licensing and Compliance – Gaming
Dawn M. Himel, an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Louisiana, is the Section Chief of Licensing and Compliance in the Gaming Division. In her position, she supervises licensing and compliance cases for over 1,700 video poker establishments, as well as compliance matters for fifteen riverboats, four racinos, and one land-based casino. She also reviews legislative changes and supervises the drafting and amending of gaming regulations. Born and raised in Central Florida, Ms. Himel earned a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies with minors in Marketing and Business from the University of Central Florida. She earned her Juris Doctor and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert School of Law at Louisiana State University.
